On an easy hike of around half an hour, you can immerse yourself in the mysterious and fascinating world of mushrooms.
Chanterelles, porcini mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms... where the delicacies grow, some huge specimens have also been created, which adorn the information boards along the new Pfitsch mushroom trail and are more than a meter tall. They are made of wood and - as they are all similar - ensure the recognition value of the trail, which can be completed in half an hour.

The mushroom trail starts at the "Aue" playground in St. Jakob in Innerpfitsch/Val di Vizze near Sterzing/Vipiteno and then winds its way through the spruce forest for over a kilometer. The boards tell you about the different types of mushrooms, their distribution, their benefits and their secrets. Did you know, for example, that mushrooms are sedentary like plants, but that they feed like animals by absorbing organic substances? This is because they cannot photosynthesize.
